Crazy Maria

Crazy Maria
She was alright
Mad as a hatter
But a beauty inside

My dear Maria
The only one
Don’t tell me
That the damage’s been done

Crazy Maria
She was alright
Don’t wanna hear a bad word
She was a friend of mine
My my Maria
Now she’s gone
And I guess I’ll never know why

There was this crazy ol’ girl living next to me
She had 12 cats and a heart of gold
Sometimes I’d join her for a drink or 10
I couldn’t believe the stories she told

I knew she lived in fear
Had debts up to her ear
There was someone from her past
She didn’t wanna see
I kept on knocking on her door
But where she had gone was a bloody mystery

Crazy Maria
Where have you gone?
Not seen you for days
Hope that nothing is wrong
My my Maria
Answer my call
Your mail is building up in the hall

The smell when they kicked down her door
Was unbearable
She’d been lying there for over a week
The flies were all flocking around
And so were the neighbors
In the midst of the summer heat

Well they all say that it was suicide
But I got my reasons to believe
That somebody else stuck that needle in her arm
That there’s been foul play on the scene

Crazy Maria
Rambled all night
Better pass her the bottle or she’d give you a fight
My my Maria
Now she’s dead
And I just can’t get her out of my head

Crazy Maria
One of a kind
The cops didn’t care sometimes justice is blind
My my Maria
Overdose?
No I don’t think she was one of those

Crazy Maria
She was alright
Don’t wanna hear a bad word
She was a friend of mine
My my Maria
Now she’s gone
Sleeping with the fishes
She’s done left this town

Crazy  Maria
I miss her so
Though her screaming through the night
Used to drive me up the wall
Goodbye Maria
You’ve reached the end
I hope you rest in peace my old friend
