Loretta’s Revenge

She packed her bags
And headed out on the road
Tried to hitch a ride
But there was no one else around
Not even a light at the end of the tunnel
So she headed back
To the life she’d always know

For 30 long years
She’d stood there quietly by his side
Raised his sons
Who turned out just like him
There ain’t no love
And the sun don’t shine upon her
And long ago
She forgot what it’s like to be free

She went down the hawk shop
Swapped her wedding ring for a shotgun
This time he was really gonna get it
She was sure

Time to swallow lead
Like she swallowed her pride for so long
Say goodbye to Loretta Mister
And kiss her gun

They came and they chained her
And they dragged her through the town
She was gonna have to pay
Like she had always done
A life for a life
But she was his wife
And that was worse
Loretta smiled
For the first time in so long

Loretta don’t you go
Loretta don’t you go away

You put a bullet in that bastard
He deserved had it coming his way
Please Mr Hangman
Don’t take her away

Loretta don’t you go
Loretta don’t you go away

Please Mr Judge and Jury
Don’t make her pay

Loretta don’t you go
Loretta don’t you go away
